What do you believe is the purpose of a college education? I believe the purpose of a college education is to earn a degree in the field of one's choice to be able to get a stable job and prepare one for the working world. I also think the purpose for a college education is to gain background experience and knowledge to know if someone wants to pursue a job in that field or if they would want to change their major and eventually their career choice. Also a college education also gives an insight not just in someone’s major choice but also in general areas too like theatre and art classes where they can learn and become a well rounded educated person.
What does it mean to be educated? To be educated means to be a well-rounded person. A well-rounded person is someone who is prepared for all situations and can apply their knowledge to aspects that others may not understand. Also to be educated be a sophisticated person, aware of common knowledge and not accepting facts without researching the information for themselves.
What experiences have you had with education that led you to this belief? The experiences that I have had with education that led me to this belief was that throughout my middle and high school career I tried my best in all of my classes to be able to learn and actually understand the content that was being taught. I also took other classes besides the regular core classes to be able to learn about different things, for example I took business classes, education classes, and classes about the laws in the country. These experiences help lead to being an educated and well-rounded person because having background knowledge in different categories so then there is overall knowledge.
